01 · The Strategic Moment

Nagaland’s Hydrocarbon Chapter
Reopened on 11 June 2026.

The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) and the Governments of Assam and Nagaland signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding establishing an actionable working framework for exploration and production across the Naga-Schuppen Belt along the foothills of the Assam-Nagaland border in the Assam-Arakan Basin — the first such bilateral framework since activity paused in the mid-1990s.

31

“NEES is the first energy convening hosted in Nagaland since that historic tripartite framework was signed. Founding partners engage directly with key ministries and state stakeholders while regulatory terms, community partnership models under Article 371A, and licensing protocols are still being shaped — not after they have settled.”

02 · Nagaland’s Resource Base

What Is Actually In The Ground.

The Directorate of Geology & Mining places Nagaland’s established reserves across four strategic resource classes. With the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) designating the Naga-Schuppen Belt at an early stage of exploration maturity, capital deployed now accesses massive undiscovered upside.

03 · The Clean Energy & Capacity Gap

130 GW Of Assessed Potential.
Only 2.3 GW Built.

The enormous gap between what the eight Northeastern states hold in the ground and river basins versus what has been commercially commissioned creates the foundation for Summit discussions on clean energy, developers, battery manufacturers, carbon credit financiers, and transmission utilities far beyond oil and gas.

The Regional Energy Landscape

Integrating Renewables & Hydrocarbons

Solar arrays, mountain-ridge wind, river hydro, and Assam-Arakan petroleum basins.

NEES 2026 bridges the dual pillars of Northeast India’s resource future: unlocking the immense hydrocarbon potential of the Assam-Nagaland border while mobilizing private capital for the 130 GW of assessed clean energy across regional river basins and hill ridges.

04 · Institutional Value

Four Arguments For A Seat At The Table.

Whether you are an upstream operator evaluating acreages, a renewable IPP seeking grid evacuation, or an institutional financier backing critical infrastructure, NEES 2026 offers unmatched commercial leverage.

01

A Regional First

The first government-convened energy platform for Nagaland and the wider Northeast, institutionalized as a recurring annual convening. Founding partners cement their brand and government relationships at the inception of the series, not midway through it.

02

Access, Ahead of the Curve

The Summit takes place four months following the landmark June 2026 tripartite framework. Partners engage directly with key ministers, regulators, and tribal leadership while licensing rules, Article 371A community partnership frameworks, and fiscal terms are actively formulated.

03

Two Rooms, Two Kinds of Access

The Main Hall delivers public pan-Northeast reach, media coverage, and thought leadership. Simultaneously, the restricted-access Conference Room hosts closed-door B2G working sessions and draft MoU walkthroughs with the host Department. Visibility and privacy under one roof.

04

Beyond Oil & Gas

The Summit also covers battery minerals (Nickel, Cobalt, Chromium), coal gasification, regional power transmission, green hydrogen, and carbon credit trading with all eight Northeastern states represented — positioning partners across India’s complete resource transition.

06 · Institutional Network

Who You’ll Meet At The Summit.

Government ministers, regulators, national public sector giants, tribal custodians, and global operators under one roof — enabling direct B2G access rarely assembled at this scale in the Northeast.
